19th February 2024
The Speedwatch Team had started back after the winter months, with their dark evenings and the persistently bad weather stopping play. Despite 5 sessions being arranged for the start of February, the majority had been rained off but the results were:
- 51 cars reported to the police for travelling over 35 mph on the A343 through Hurstbourne Tarrant.
- 16% were over 50 mph – slightly down on average figures. A Ford S-max and a Renault Captur were the fastest.
Cllr Thomas reported that he had witnessed a vehicle captured by the SID at 48mph at 6am!
One new member had joined the team who was relatively new to the village.
Cllr Hedger had written to B&M regarding one its lorries using the A343, and asking if they could consider alternative routes for their drivers wherever possible, avoiding the A343 and its villages.
